Cover & 1st Excerpt for NAVY SEAL’S MATCH!

15 Feb

Dear Reader,

NavySEALsMatch_AmberLeighWilliamsHe believes he can’t be saved—she’ll prove him wrong!

Former SEAL Gavin Savitt always knew who he was—until his last deployment ended tragically. Now he’s home, his mind hijacked by trauma and the shadow of his once-perfect sight. Yet in this new hazy, unclear world, one person stands out—Mavis Bracken.

There are a million reasons why Gavin shouldn’t be with Mavis, including that she’s his best friend’s little sister. Yet he longs for her touch, her freckles and her special way with wild, skittish beasts like him. He just needs the courage to take his life back. And Mavis won’t let him give up without a fight.

The next book in my Fairhope, Alabama series has a cover! Navy SEAL’s Match will be released this May from Harlequin Superromance. You may have guessed that this is Gavin’s story since he did play a minor role in Navy SEAL Promise (October 2017) and has been a bit of a recurring character since we first saw him in the series’ first book, A Place With Briar (April 2014). When I began plotting this story, I knew what direction it would take. I knew that Gavin would be the hero and I knew he and I would be exploring all the scars he carries as a combat veteran outside and in.

It was important to research PTSD and understand his everyday struggles on the home front, and it was wonderful having a heroine so willing and able to help him through it all. It was difficult to wrap up the draft portion of Navy SEAL’s Match because I knew it would be my last Superromance novel – and because I love these characters and this story very, very much.

Since I’m a fan of this cover (thank you, Harlequin!), I’m throwing in a bonus excerpt to hold everyone until May…

“I’ve never wanted to be less sensible…”

Mavis gulped air into her lungs. “That’s my point. This…all this… It’s nice for now. But what happens in the end?”

The words shot Gavin’s smile dead. “When I leave?”

Mavis lifted a shoulder. “Isn’t that what you’ll do eventually? You’ve been very clear. I’ve told you, I know you don’t know your place in the world anymore and I’m aware of who you are—who you’ve always been. You’ll go looking for it if you can’t find it here. You—”

“I run,” he concluded, gaze dull and far off.

She couldn’t stop herself from reaching for his hand and gripping it tight. “I want you.”

The truth snatched his head around, back to hers, brows hitched. He looked surprised. Then impressed.

Mavis nodded. “And that isn’t something I’m capable of ignoring anymore.”

“Anymore,” he murmured. His jaw softened. “How long have you been ignoring it, exactly?”

I can’t wait to share more! More excerpts to come. Keep checking in via Twitter and Facebook for updates. You can preorder the ebook or mass market edition at Harlequin or Amazon

Happy reading, as always,

It’s almost that time again! We’ll be ringing in the new year with the launch of my fourth Superromance novel, Wooing the Wedding Planner, on January 1st!

No more wedding marches for her!

Wedding planner Roxie Honeycutt can make happy-ever-after come true for anyone except herself. Freshly divorced and done with love, she’s okay with watching clients walk down the aisle. What’s not okay? Sharing a charming Victorian house with accountant Byron Strong. He’s frustratingly sexy and determined to keep her confused.

Roxie thought Byron’s expertise was numbers, yet somehow he sees her for who she really is. Somehow he understands the hurt she hides behind a trademark smile. Suddenly romance is tempting again, even if it means risking another heartbreak.

I’ve been eager to share this part of my hometown saga since I started writing this series for Harlequin years ago. As with all my other Fairhope books, it can be read as a stand-alone novel for those who haven’t had a chance to read A Place With Briar, Married One Night or His Rebel Heart. Wooing the Wedding Planner is doubly special because while it isn’t the last hometown story I’m contracted to write for Superromance (I’m writing the fifth one now with the sixth in planning stages), it is the completion of the first generational arc in my Fairhope saga. For those who have read the first three books, you’ll know this as Roxie and Byron’s story. In fact, during the writing process, it was filed under the working title “RoxBy.” Thankfully, the lovely editors of Superromance wisely chose to scrap all my meager title suggestions and call it Wooing the Wedding Planner instead.

I’ll be sharing more about the book between now and New Year’s here at my website and via social media so be sure to check back in. If you aren’t already, follow me on Facebook and Twitter or have the news sent straight to your inbox with my newsletter.
