Amber Leigh Williams
Hi, I'm Amber Leigh! If this is your first time visiting my website or you'd like to know more, here are 9 Fun (+ 1 Serious) Facts about me...

1. I'm a homeschool teacher...

Since my oldest child entered preschool in 2015, I have been teaching him and my daughter at home. It’s not always easy juggling teaching and writing, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

2. I'm a certified bookworm...

When I’m not writing or playing outdoors, I’m most likely reading. I’ve loved books since I was a little girl. I could spend an entire day at the library or bookstore browsing the shelves and reading!

3. I'm an amateur historian...

I love history! It was my favorite subject in school and the greatest thing about being a teacher is passing that love onto my children. I love writing contemporary romance and romantic suspense set in today’s timeline, but when I read, a lot of times I love nothing more than getting lost in historical fiction and non-fiction.

4. I've lived on two different coastlines...

I grew up on both the Gulf Coast of Alabama and I live there now with my family. But for a few years, my family lived on Amelia Island in Florida on the Atlantic Coast. If you’re wondering, the beaches in Alabama are very different from the beaches on the East Coast.

5. My daughter and I love to find new tea shops when we travel...

Our current favorite is the Copper Kettle Tea Bar in Foley, Alabama. We love finding great coffee shops, too, like The Southern Grind Coffee House in Orange Beach, Alabama.

6. I love rescue dogs...

The running joke in our house is that whenever my husband and I get “baby fever,” we adopt another rescue dog. Currently, we have four fur babies. The first one is a German shepherd/Australian shepherd mix. The second is a chocolate lab. Then there’s Tank, the star of Tank Tuesday on Instagram. He is a mastador (mastiff-labrador mix). This year, we welcomed Maya, the German shepherd puppy, into our family.

7. I love The Great Outdoors...

When I’m not writing or reading, you can find me outdoors. My family loves to travel and explore. When we do, we often walk, hike, or bike. One of my favorite things to do outdoors is visit the shore – whether it’s an ocean, gulf, lake, river, or stream. I love the water, especially boating and fishing.

8. I can water ski and snow ski...

I learned to water ski on Lake Martin as a teen. Every summer since then, I’ve gotten up on some skis, even during a lake vacation less than a month after my daughter’s birth (which I’m especially proud of). During recent travels to Colorado over the winter, I also learned to snow ski with my children. I can definitely say that I’m a much better water skier than a snow-skier, but both are fun.

9. I have Hashimoto's disease...

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at the age of fourteen. Two years after my daughter’s birth, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease. As a result, self-care has become very important to me and I can’t stress enough how important it is for every person to get checked out if you feel that something isn’t right.

10. The three books that made me want to be a writer are...

…Nancy Drew: Secret of the Old Clock by Carolyn Keene, Anne Frank: Diary of a Young Girl, and Carnal Innocence by Nora Roberts.
